At the onset of military actions in the Donbas region, following the annexation of Crimea by Russia, photos of artillery positions with strikingly similar exteriors began to emerge in military blogs covering the military actions.
These images depict artillery pieces set against an unknown and remarkably serene background. It was impossible to determine, based on these photographs, whether they were on the pro-Russian or Ukrainian side of the conflict. These photo etchings were created using fragments of the backgrounds from such shots, where only an unidentified location is captured.
